Happy New Year!

You may have noticed that I’ve taken some time off from blogging; this has been for a few reasons. Upon returning from Vegas (future post forthcoming), I found myself in a position I haven’t been in for about five years: sick. I could tell it was coming at the tail end of the trip, and it knocked me out over a week, which also happened to be an incredibly busy time at work. After all that, the break I’ve had between Christmas and New Years has been incredibly relaxing and restful. And now I’m ready to go.

Rather than take a look back on all the places 2017 took me, I’m looking forward to what’s coming in 2018! My work travel typically stays the same for the fall, give or take a few places, and you can review all those destinations here. This last year was my third time visiting most of these cities, but I’m always looking for new and exciting things to try or do with each visit and that will not change next fall!

We do have a few personal trips planned; of course we love a good weekend in Fredericksburg, Texas for wine tasting and shopping, but one big trip I’m looking forward to is an Amtrak trip from Sacramento to Chicago in May. Not only is this train supposed to have gorgeous scenery through the Rocky Mountains, it also passes through Nebraska and Iowa, two states I will then be able to cross of my list. Considering I grew up in Chicago, I never turn down an opportunity to visit old friends and see the city.

One other personal trip we have planned is a cruise out of Miami in in July. I’ve mentioned before that the Conrad Miami is my favorite hotel in the area, so it will be fun to stay there for a non-work purpose. We have visited the ports of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten before, but are incredibly excited to visit our favorite spots again. And of course, Celebrity cruises are always a fantastic experience.  I plan on having WiFi this trip, so expect updates!

Here is to a wonderful 2018, full of travel, happiness, and fun!
